National Religious Broadcasters, Bible Teacher Kay Arthur, Partnering With Ten Commandments Commission

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA (March 14, 2006) --- As the Ten Commandments Commission gears up for its May 7th nationwide Ten Commandments Day Celebration, several high-profile individuals and groups have stepped forward to publicly endorse the campaign and join in the effort, including the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) leadership and noted Bible teacher Kay Arthur.

“We are truly excited about the hundreds of churches, ministries, and religious leaders who have been inspired to join in our bold stand for a return to the Ten Commandments and the Judeo-Christian foundations of our nation,” said Wexler. “The addition of these highly esteemed religious leaders is a blessing for the Ten Commandments Commission – and for our nation.”

Many NRB members began an active partnership with the Ten Commandments Commission in January when Belarmino “Blackie” Gonzalez, an NRB board member and president of New Mexico 's Son Broadcasting, became chairman of the Ten Commandments Commission. “I feel very strongly about the importance of God's Word,” said Gonzalez. “The Ten Commandments are foundational to all God has given mankind, and we need to ensure that they continue to have a place of prominence in America .”

The Ten Commandments Commission served as official sponsor of the NRB's annual business meeting during the NRB national convention in February. Wexler addressed the meeting, telling NRB members that America's religious broadcasters are the watchmen God has placed on the wall to help protect America . “This is a crucial period in America, because we seem to have lost our moral and faith focus,” said Wexler, “It is important that our nation's religious leaders act in unity to lead people of faith back to a recognition of God's righteous standard and a submission to it.”

During the convention Gonzalez announced that nationally renowned Bible teacher Kay Arthur is working with the Commission to produce a television special on the Ten Commandments and the importance of God-centered morality in America. “We are excited about Kay Arthur's partnership with us,” said Gonzalez. “She has a special ability to communicate God's message to her audience, and that will make this television special very compelling.”

Several prominent NRB members are also heading up the Ten Commandments Commission Media Committee, which will ensure that the May 7th Ten Commandments Day observance receives prominent television and radio coverage. Among the committee members are: Dr. Frank Wright , President of the National Religious Broadcasters; Dr. Ron Hembree, President of Cornerstone Television; Dr. Richard Roberts, President of Oral Roberts University; Annette Garcia, Vice-President of Son Broadcasting Network; Blackie Gonzalez, President/CEO of Son Broadcasting Network; Dr. David Clark, President of Palm Beach Atlantic University; Richard Shakarian, President of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International; Dr. Peter Sumrall, President of LeSea Broadcasting Corporation; Bruno Caamano, President of AlmaVision Hispanic Network; Warren Trumbly, President of KAXT-TV; Larry Bates, President/CEO of Information Radio Network; Dr. Charles Phillips of Kingdom Empowerment; Ruth Schofield, Founder/President of World Embassy for Peace and Religious Freedom; Jerry Rose, President/CEO of Total Living Network; Dr. Garth Coonce, President of TCT Ministries; Robert D'Andrea, President of Christian Television Network; and Pastor Glenn Plummer, President of CTN Detroit.
