The Ten Commandments Proclamation Comes to Nassau!

Special ceremony to be held at the Diplomat Center, Bahamas Faith Ministries

2006-08-07 -- WDC Media News -- (Nassau, Bahamas) -- Dr. Myles Munroe, Founder, President, and Senior Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International will be honored by the Ten Commandments Commission on Monday, August 14 with a signing of the Ten Commandments proclamation.

This special ceremony will be held at the Diplomat Center, Bahamas Faith Ministries (BFH).

Local community pastors, leaders and people of faith will be invited to sign the Ten Commandments proclamation on the following day at a ceremony hosted by BFH in conjunction with their 2006 Leadership Summit set for August 15 - 18.

Ron Wexler and Dr. Munroe, co-founders of the Ten Commandments Commission (TCC), will be joined by other prominent Ten Commandments Commission members, VIPs, and religious leaders from around the world, who on May 7, 2006 established the Ten Commandments Day as an official commemorative religious observance. Henceforth, global celebrations will be held annually on the first Sunday in May.

"This is a day dedicated to the display, awareness, commemoration and celebration of the Decalogue, the latter regarded as the divine foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith," explains Ron Wexler, President/CEO of the Ten Commandments Commission.

"The Ten Commandments Commission was formed in the spring of 2005 following the US Supreme Court rulings against the Ten Commandments. It came about because of a host of other disturbing trends that even today are witnessed throughout our culture. These events," said Dr. Munroe, "are as disturbing now as they were then. That in itself clearly demonstrates that our nation is moving away from moral absolutes. The actions of some have threatened the very fabric and foundation of our culture and faith".

"The public displays of the Ten Commandments and other symbols of our faith have been a powerful visual testimony to the fact that the United States of America is ‘one nation under God.' Their removal from public places shows that those with a secular, humanist agenda are intent on destroying the moral heritage of America. Also, they are intent on making sure future generations do not recognize the major influence the Ten Commandments have had in shaping our laws and freedoms," said Ron Wexler.

"With secular humanists waging their attacks at home, and the looming threat from the international radical Islam," said Wexler, "people of faith become the line of defense - the ‘Wall of Jerusalem'. We are the watchmen God has placed there. Therefore, those who care about moral values cannot passively sit by to watch the removal of the very principles that made this country great. The Ten Commandments and what they represent are the heart of all moral codes and must be defended before they are removed from society altogether. We are a grassroots movement led by some of the world's most impressive ministries and men of God."

The First Annual Ten Commandments Day was celebrated on Sunday, May 7 when thousands of churches and synagogues used the occasion to celebrate the Ten Commandments. Pastors and rabbis spoke about their importance in society.

"We believe," said Dr. Munroe, "that no civilized society or government can exist successfully without the recognition, acceptance, adherence and submission to an absolute authority. We also believe that that absolute authority is the source of moral law and the standard for value judgment. Therefore, the principle of freedom demands the protection of God's moral law. The Ten Commandments Commission is the response to that challenge and endeavors.

"This will be an impressive ceremony. We invite everybody who cares about the effort to return God to society to join us," said Dr. Munroe, "This will provide a unified expression of our national commitment to the divine prerogative. And it will help restore the supremacy of the tenets, precepts and principles contained in and established by the Ten Commandments".
